Activities in Rotterdam

Rotterdam has many possibilities. Read below about some activities we recommend. Ask our reception staff about even more possibilities!

Euromast

If you are visiting Rotterdam for the first time, we definitely recommend going to the Euromast for a panoramic view of the city. The 185-meter high mast is the highest building in the Netherlands and offers a whole new perspective on our modern city.

The Euromast is also part of the World Federation of Great Towers (WFGT): the 37 most beautiful and tallest towers in the world, such as the Burj Khalifa, the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.

It is also possible to reserve a table in the Euromast and have a nice dinner or just a drink. With a view of our city of course!

From Hotel Milano you can reach it by bike in 10 minutes, and walking takes just under 20 minutes.

Market Hall

This unique architectural display is one of Rotterdam's most popular attractions and serves as an office building, a residential area and a market, filled with dozens of establishments selling international food and drinks.

During the construction of the Markthal, many historical objects were found in the ground of the construction site during the excavation. It is possible to admire these historical items at the escalators in the middle of the Markthal. This is therefore very appropriately called The Time Staircase.

The Markthal is an absolute must-see and is about 20 minutes from the hotel.

Bike tour / Bike rental at hotel

A fun and typically Dutch way to admire the highlights of Rotterdam is to join a bike tour! The Dutch are real cyclists. We cycle to work, get groceries and bring the children to school this way.

If you are in the Netherlands, you will also notice as a tourist that you see bicycles and designated paths everywhere. Thanks to all those cycle paths, you can ride around as safely as possible as a cyclist!

To get the real Dutch feeling as a tourist, cycling in Rotterdam cannot be missed on your bucket list.

During the highlight bike tour of seeRotterdam the guide takes you along all the sights of the city. You start in the center, cycle to the Coolsingel, the Willemsbrug, Erasmusbrug, over the Kop van Zuid and towards the Markthal. Of course the Cube Houses and the Oude Haven should not be missed.

From Hef

During your stay at Hotel Milano in Rotterdam, be sure to visit the Koningshavenbrug, better known as De Hef. The bridge has not been in use since 1993, and previously served as a crossing for train traffic. The iconic bridge was essential and a connection between the Noordereiland and Zuid.

The whole thing was replaced years ago by a tunnel in the Maas, but every now and then it sinks down. Very nice to see, if you are lucky enough.

After breakfast, jump on your bike and you will be at De Hef from Hotel Milano within 25 minutes!
